Microbion has just published on Microbiology Resource Announcements a Genome Announcement in which sets a new standard for microrganisms whole genome sequencing.
The result was obtained using hybrid sequencing coupled with optical mapping making it possible to obtain a single scaffold genome of a probiotic strain. This means to have an almost complete genome with no gaps that helps in the bioinformatics analysis to unravel the technological potential of the strain.
Microbion already routinely offers this hybrid approach to its customers for the characterization of their strains.
